We all, in one way shape or form, have dealt with or experienced addiction, be it drugs, alcohol, gambling, or a particular vice. With addiction comes battle, a battle of fighting it or submitting to it, picking it up and putting it down, taking it or leaving it. Addiction is learned, inherited or sometimes both "I didn't make this bed, I tried to stab it with a knife." You Calm Me was written during the summer of 2020 and started with the opening guitar rhythm and lyrics quickly followed. Perhaps the theme was predetermined prior to picking up the guitar. It's important to let the person know you will help them, and when their time comes, they will know they can trust and support them without judgment.
